Irritating

So, in keeping with my tradition of nonsense & BS, here's some pointless junk that you probably don't care about.

Maybe you'll get a laugh out of it... or maybe you'll think I'm really whiny... or maybe you'll skim it. Most probably won't even read it.

Linux

I'm going to be trying out Ubuntu. I just need to find the cord for this computer. I'm pretty excited that I may finally free myself from Windows. Anyone have any experiences with Ubuntu?

I watched a documentary on Linux/Windows/Apple and since then, I've been playing with the idea of making the switch. I like what it is, versus MAC & Microsoft.

We will see.

In other news, I think I'm going to get on the tumblr bandwagon. Why? It feels like an easier place to blog.. & will be more mobile friendly.

I checked this page from my computer, & noticed my picture was super small, but its only on Blogger. From Twitter, my pictures aren't small. Ugh. I'm going to have to play around with this.

In crafty news: I have a list of things to make (they go with my 50 things) that go with my new phone.

Can I just say that my phone is so ace? ;] after toying with the idea of an iPhone, I'm glad I was convinced to buy an Android phone. Color me a fan. ;D

Updating!

Playing around with my new HTC Thunderbolt. I think its safe to say that I'm in love & officially a "fandroid." :D now I can update on he go, since I always have my phone on me. <3

I just have to figure out how this thing works!

I added a picture of Bagheera, taken with the camera on this phone with the cinnamon filter. :] I'm loving most of the stock apps (slacker, tunewiki, etc) and I'm 100% addicted to Words with Friends. Come play with me! SweetDizz

Alright. More meaningful update soon.

xD

I haven't forgotten about my craft list. Now that the NFL Draft is over, I feel an urge to craft.

unfortunately I the only time I have to craft is at night. Someone is always at home, so I hate disrupting people with my sewing machine. Anyway, my sleep patterns are all messed up. hopefully i'll be able to get back to crafting. Next on my list is the green tote kit that I got for CHRISTMAS. >.< i've had it sitting there for way too long. it isn't even a challenging project, it's mostly about remembering to do it.

In related news, I've also have a metal punch now! I'm not 100% sure how to use it, so hopefully through some experimenting i can figure out what to do. :D  I have some new jewelry magazines, so I'm going to start working on some different pieces. :D

still gaming

oy. I've taken a huge craft break. how inappropriate. i think i'll get back to it tomorrow. :D

what have I been playing? Halo, Assassin's Creed 2, and most recently Splinter Cell: Conviction. and now i'm going to complain about all of it. fun fact: i play old games and then discuss them like they're new. yeah, i'm retarded.

first up is Halo: my "credit ban" is over. it only lasted 24 hours. I've still been playing & sucking hardcore. I have no idea why I enjoy embarrassing myself so hardcore when I'm playing.  I will say that when I'm alone and playing, I'm much better.. for whatever reason that is.. especially when using Covenant weapons. Sorry Spartans, the aliens have better weapons. *kawink*

I'm not complaining about Halo. I don't take that game very seriously, so I don't really care about how hard I suck.

what am I going to complain about? Assassin's Creed 2. I have a 1000 gamerscore in that game.. completed it .. i don't know? in a week or so? I was taking "Halo breaks" while playing, so i don't know how long I actually played the game.  Now, I started playing it on the PS3, however Uncharted 2 came in the mail from gamefly (either the first or second time we rented it) so I put the game down.. with the thought that I would return to it.

So I'm sitting there a few nights about & decided that I wanted to play a different game on the 360 to increase my gamerscore. I don't know why it matters to me, but I wanted to do it. Plus, I'm halfway decent at "3rd person" games, so I figured it would be fairly easy for me. I pop in the game.. about 20 minutes into it.. i remember why I threw my controller down in rage so much. Seriously. I don't know how many times I said (sarcastically) "OH YEAH, I TOTALLY WANTED YOU TO JUMP THERE ASSHAT." or my ever famous phrase "REALLY??!!!" Overall it was a horrible experience. Climb some buildings, collect a shitload of feathers for your mute mom.. who then makes them into a cape (??) which makes you instantly notorious. Why anyone would want a cape that immediately makes you suspicious is beyond me. not to mention the RIDICULOUS voice acting. (with the exception of the guy in the animus, who is voiced by the same guy who does Nathan Drake <3 <3<3)  So i finish all the stupid non-story related achievements & finish the game. Overall I was not impressed. hopefully if they're making another one, they'll play "Uncharted" to see exactly what platforming games are supposed to do. I didn't ever yell at Nathan Drake.. so thanks Naughty Dog, for making an amazing game.

then I picked up Splinter Cell: Conviction. I'm currently on the "Whitebox Chapter" & I have literally said "SERIOUSLY? WHAT THE FUCK." about a dozen times. The game feels less stealthy than the others. not to mention they took away my whistling ability. for those of you that don't know, I do that whistle in real life. Not to mention I'm not wearing that stupid ass uniform. It's stupid, but SO FUCKING COOL. How am I supposed to be thoraxe the impaler if I look like Sam Fisher? Come on now.

I do want to try the Co-Op, because that was always more fun. Although, if my co-op partner isn't familiar with Splinter Cell Co-Op Theater, they may come to the conclusion that I'm borderline retarded. I'm enjoying Conviction, but not as much as I thought I would. I even had to change the difficulty to Normal. :[[[[[[[[[[[ BOO. It's okay, because I usually like to play through games twice anyway. Once on an easier difficulty, and then again on the hard difficulty so that I know what I'm doing. On a positive note, I already have several chapters completed on Realistic, before i finally had to nix it and say.. NVM. NTY.  I think most of my annoyance is because I haven't tried co-op yet, and that's where the fun is. Do i love games? yes. do i love to LAUGH at games? HELL YES. When I played through RE5, I muted the TV and Matthew and I did the voice overs ourselves.

"Hold on, let me check my facebook."

that's what makes the game fun.

Anyway, I currently own a metal punch & some fun washers, so I plan on making some fun stuff. xD I'll update when I do. <3 I went to a local bead store, only to find that it's been closed. :[[ I guess I'll have to make a trip to Jo-Anne's instead. <3

I haven't been stenciling, but my next project is obviously going to be a Third Echelon stencil on something. I'm playing conviction, so I may as well, right? :P what whaaaat?!

Well, this one was all over the place. Maybe I'll do a "life update" soon. although, probably not.. because i have some not-so-nice things to say.

XOXO

Oh Chexmix.

As you know, I've been on a Halo: Reach spree. To the point that I went out & bought a wireless adapter & my own personal copy of the game. Previously I was on my brother's 360 & using his copy of the game. Let me preface this entire rant by explaining something... I am awful at this game. I am okay in campaign mode.. & I'm currently working on Legendary right now.. but when it comes to online, I am just God awful. Seriously. it's pathetic. I go entire games without kills.. Why do I play? Because it's fun.. I only play online with friends. I don't think I have ever started an online match without someone else present. When I'm alone, I'll play firefight or campaign. Why firefight? Because it's fun to blow up aliens. I play a custom match w/ rockets.. infinite ammo and infinite lives. It's just fun. Why is this important? Because i'm about to go off like a crazy person..

for the love of cake, make sure you're ready to read the rest of this rant-tastic blog.. i can't even guarantee it will be humorous. srs.

/craft break/

So, I've been half crafting/half killing. What have I been playing? Halo: Reach. am I behind? yes. Do i care? no. sorry. But now I'm going to talk about the game.. and in the words of Cleveland Brown, ITS GON' BE TIGHT Y'ALL.

6.4.11

50 projects update.

One of the things on my list is to do better stenciling. with that, I bring you my attempts.

My shirt wasn't one of my favs (although I'm wearing it right now.) but I felt like the overspray just made it look bad. even though I tried to soften it up, it wasn't working out for me. Since I have 2 of the exact same shirt.. and half my wardrobe is black, I decided to give it another go. But this time do some tests first.

I know I say this a lot, and it doesn't really matter, but there are quite a few pictures in here.. with not that many words. xD
PS this is my adorable Sarge. <3 the picture doesn't do him justice. (or maybe it's a face only a mother could love. LOL) Anyway, handsewn mostly flat stuffie. I didn't have any red felt, so i had to make do with what I did have. :P Sarge is from one of the most hilarious things ever, red vs blue. he needs a keychain loop! xD Since he has none, he shall now become a toy for my kitties. :[

My foray into bleach stenciling

Alright, I've done some bleach stenciling.. first time ever! I have stenciled A LOT, but never with bleach.. so i figured I'd give it a go. Unlike paints, bleach is VERY DRIPPY. and if you drip, it will stain. In addition, there is a little thing called "overspray." I haven't stenciled with spray paint since high school (i would stencil my notebooks, not walls.) So, there is a bit of overspray on my shirt, but i'm working on correcting it with additional spray. you'll see. <3

:D Plastic bottle beads!

Found a tutorial on making plastic bottle beads, so I decided to try it out! :D I took step by step photos, since most people on craftster used a heat gun, and I used a candle.. because I don't have a heat gun. ;D Anyway, a few tips from my experience, water bottles work the best and coke bottles are INSANELY thick. I couldn't find my needle nose pliers (they're somewhere in my jewelry making supplies..) so I used a variety of different pliers. Did I mention I roped my brother into helping me? He made some pretty rad looking beads too. I like to try new projects with other people, so we can come up with new techniques. :D Alright, here goes nothin'

Supplies:
plastic bottles (seriously, water bottles work the best.)
sharpies in a variety of colors
pliers (needle nose would probably work best, but I used my jewelry pliers and clampy pliers.
candle!
Cut up a strip of plastic bottle. (this was the coke bottle)
 Color it up all purty
wrap it up and clamp that sucka with your pliers! If you have needle nose pliers, you now see why this is easier.

See? wrap it up tight! (PS Sorry about the state of my nails/hands. black nailpolish chips insanely fast.)
heat it over the flame. DON'T LIGHT IT ON FIRE. Just hover it over the flame. In the other tutes they don't talk about the noise, but your plastic will make cracking noises as it gets smaller.. don't freak out, nothing is sparking. If you have rough edges, you can quickly pass it through the flame to melt the sides and even it out.
here is matthew working on his with my jewelry pliers (see? needle nose would be so much better.)

when its all melted up, dunk it in a cup of cool water (it will sizzzzzleeee) and you're done! :D put them on a plate to cool off!

VOILA! Beautifully cheap beads. some of them look kind of busted, but it's a learning process. as you can see, they can come in all different sizes depending on how you cut the bottle. I did some in a triangle shape and some in a rectangle... Coke bottles are thicker, so make your rectangles/triangles smaller so they'll melt evenly. :D

Now I'm on a mission to find other things to melt. watch out legos!

Happy Melting!

list commenced.

Alright! Its been a busy weekend. I've been diligently semi-working on some of the projects on my list! <3 They've been coming out pretty good.. so I'm really proud of the way they're looking right now. the only one i'm unsure of is my T-Rex skull. I'll go back to working on that later.

After the jump, it's going to get picture chubby! xD

26.3.11

Earcuff Insanity.

I'm not marking the check on my list, because these were made before I had the idea.. plus I want to get better at it. i figured I'd share some rad pictures of my new gnarly earcuffs.

warning, it will be picture chubby. ;D

50 Projects in 2011

Alright, I posted about this on my facebook page, but it will probably be easier for me to keep up with my list if i also blog about it. This will also remind me that I should be blogging about things. xD I tend to forget about this thing. When I craft something on the list, I'll blog about it.. and include some step-by-steps/pics of what inspired me.. or a link to the tutorial I used. :D I have so many craft tutes bookmarked & saved!

Picture related: I am THAT excited about this project.  I have my battle axe ready to go. This, along with the ongoing cooking project my mom and i have going on, is going to be a blast. <3

MENU

Okay, I was struck with a genius idea. Mom & I have been planning our meals weekly in an effort to cook new things & to make shopping easier.  There is nothing more frustrating than buying a bunch of ingredients.. and then not knowing what to make with them. So, for the past few weeks our recipes have been planned, and it has been delicious. That's when my idea happened.

read about this beast after the jump. xD

HOLY CRAP

I want to apologize for not blogging in several months. I really want to try and get better at it. I'm constantly on twitter, so if anyone needs to keep up with my life second by second in 140 characters or less, you can always follow me. Of course my Twitter name is sweetdizz. That's who I am.
