So, I started with an image (this is the UNSC Logo from Halo. Yes, I'm a nerd.)
Here is where I made a mistake. If you're doing PAINT stencils, this is okay.. but with BLEACH.. not so good. anyway, I made a makeshift carbon transfer.. i colored one page with black crayon & used it like carbon paper to transfer the image to a piece of posterboard (how dumb am i? LOL) For bleach stenciling, I'm going to try & use freezer paper. I assume that won't soak through onto the fabric.
This step isn't necessary. I colored it in simply for my own reference. I need to see the color to know what to cut out. xD
grab your X-ACTO knife and cut it out!
took this AFTER i sprayed, but i coated the thing with bleach. it ended up looking splotchy, so I went back to correct it with permanent marker
You can see here where all my overspray is, and if you zoom in, you can really tell where i've colored in with black sharpie. hopefully throwing it in the washing machine will degrade the sharpie and help it to blend in a little bit.
I'm DEFINITELY going to be trying this one again. this time, covering up the overspray & using freezer paper. Freezer paper stencils are fun. xD Plus, i wont need to enlist anyone to help me hold it down, since i can just iron it on. xD I have this exact same shirt (i bought two) so i'm either going to try the UNSC logo again, or perhaps a gravity hammer (my weapon of choice. whaaat)
PS. this is a REALLY stinky project, so make sure you do it in a well ventilated area.. especially if you need a sharpie touch up. :D
XOXO
