for the love of cake, make sure you're ready to read the rest of this rant-tastic blog.. i can't even guarantee it will be humorous. srs.
Here we go..
As you may/may not know/care I do not take things too seriously. Especially video games. I am terrible at Halo, but it is fun to play. if you aren't familiar with the game, they have a fun new feature called credits.. it lets you level up & buy useless shit to decorate your character with.. or whatever. I didn't really pay attention because I don't have a need to dress up my Spartan.. I DO want 2million credits so that when I die (which is often) my character will explode into confetti & applause.. Really brighten the day up. ;D they give you challenges to complete, and when you play games (online, campaign, or whatever) you gain more credits to level up.
Now that you know about useless credits, you should know something else.. I OCD hard when it comes to "completing tasks." I, myself, am a list maker, so i immediately want to finish the lists. I do what I can, but I'm not a very high rank. I'm a Warrant Officer & my clan tag or whatever is "DERP" that should give you an idea of my playing ability. I do the challenges for the chapters, but if it's an online challenge I really don't bother with it, because I know I won't be able to complete it.
Now I have set a glorious stage for you.. Let's flash back to last night. After installing Netflix onto my 360, I'm invited by one of my XBL friends to play Halo: Reach with him & his friends. I have played with them before, & they're all super nice. By super nice, I mean they don't make fun of my lack of skill & they are funny. I basically wander these maps going "hurr durr where is everyone?" K. So. They're picking the games to play & I'm basically sucking at all of them. I get barely any kills.. and a few suicides.. and yes, a few betrayals. :/ We played through SWATS, Team Snipers, some kind of Zombie game, "Hockey" which is so retarded. it's basically like soccer & golf had a retarded baby.. and that baby was that stupid game.. & my personal favorite, Grifball! <3 So, now we're all on the same page. Basically, the only games I had kills in were games that had vehicles & Grifball. In addition to all that, apparently during the second to last game, my controller got all fucked up and cut out. TWICE. I was so pissed. I'm hyper competitive, which is stupid, because I'm terrible at this game. so. That game ends and all of a sudden this little popup happens on my console "This account has been temporarily banned from earning credits. Please go to bungie.net/ban for more information." I'm fucking pissed. then a second popup happens, "This console has been temporarily banned from earning credits. Please go to bungie.net/ban for more information."
..dramatic pause..
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SERIOUS? I start bitching on the headset like "what the fuck whine whine whine why did i get banned etc." So, at first it was suggested that maybe I had earned the max amount of credits for the day. No. Fucking. Way. Nobody else in the party got that message, and I hadn't played all day. So. what could have happened? We play another game of grifball (and mind you, when I would've earned a credit.. the fucking 2 popups happen again. reminding me.) and then everyone decides to quit & go to sleep. Except me.. because don't you understand? she never sleeps. (Ring reference.. oh yeah its serious now.)
So i google "Halo: Reach credit ban" and find a shit ton of people whining about getting banned. Apparently they are either A. signing in under a guest account & letting that one idle while they repeatedly kill it.. or B. doing some kind of glitch that enables them to do the challenges over & over again. I have done neither. I legitimately played every game. I was active in every game. I wasn't killing in every game, but I was running around. I wasn't killed at spawn points, I had several assists, & in some games I DID have kills (like i said, vehicular manslaughter or hammers.) I didn't quit any game, & wasn't harassing my party members (although, we were in a party so i guess it wouldn't matter what kind of language I used.) My controller did cut out twice, but I fail to see how that would earn me a ban. I would accept a ban if I was cheating & got caught. I have been banned from MANY things. Seriously. Internet trolling used to be my hobby, I can accept a ban & not whine about it, if I deserved it. The fact is that I didn't do anything but suck at the game. It IS my fault that I'm bad at the game, but why am I punished for wanting to earn credits? Let me explain my "rank" Generally, in every online match that I play, i am the lowest ranked person in the game.. and I rightfully deserve it. I'm not good.
So, I decide to check out the bungie website for the ban. Apparently Bungie is convinced that their system is flawless, and have gone as far as to say that if you appeal your ban, you will be ignored.. and it could even result in a longer ban because they are never wrong. NEVER. WRONG. They have failed to take into account the variable that some people are just not that good at the game. I'm not an MLG Pro Gamer. Hell, I can't beat anyone in Halo. I. Am. Not. Good. Basically they have told you not to bother contacting them, because they are convinced that they are never wrong. Again I say, I didn't cheat. I don't cheat at video games, because it's a waste of time. If you have to cheat to win, you don't deserve the win. if you glitch a game to your benefit, I'm not giving you "mad props" for figuring out how to shoot through walls or whatever bullshit. I'll call you sad. I earned my Warrant Officer fair and square. Don't tell me that since I've completed several chapters on legendary, I *must* be good at the game.. because I easily have 40 deaths per chapter. Don't look at my firefight scores, because I'm playing by myself, and I have a bottomless clip & infinite lives. Of course when I'm fighting a bunch of grunts and I have a jetpack and a fucking rocket lawn chair i'm going to OWN in that game. :/ It's quite a different story when I'm playing against other intelligent life forms that do not have a set path, & have been playing for much MUCH longer than I have. I'm basically used as the bait in all games I have ever played. "run out there so we can see where the sniper is shooting from." etc etc etc. So no, Bungie. I didn't deserve a ban. I hope it's a 24 hour ban, because it's apparently a "first time offense" or whatever.
By the way, there are emails up on the Bungie website, & I'll contact them if my ban is longer than 24-hours. I hope it isn't, because I'd hate to think I wasted money on this game. if I did, then that's going to suck. It has also pretty much cemented the fact that I won't be buying another game from these developers. I shall stick to Naughty Dog & Zipper who fortunately know how to make delightful games. Perhaps they should be looking more to MAG if they'd like to see how the credits/leveling up system should work. need I remind you that a "big team battle" in MAG is 128vs128. so.... yeahhhhhhhh. Why would they even allow people who didn't get any kills to get credits of any kind? It seems like a flaw in developing. I'm mad because I got banned.. and I'm more annoyed that now my entire xbox is banned from earning credits. Obviously, Daniel's gamertag is on this 360 as well, so he, too is banned from earning credits, which doesn't make a lick of sense. I wasn't signed into a guest profile.. I was only using my profile. i don't even know how long this ban is. I'll tell you that if by tomorrow I still can't level up, I'll email Bungie. I don't think Daniel is going to care one way or another, because he loves his PS3, & rarely (if ever) gets on XBL..
Now, when Carl & I would troll Playstation@Home (and oh, would we.) Daniel would get semi-nervous every time some little 12 year old would be like "ZOMG I'M REPORTING YOU BC YOU ARE MEAN." ;D PS That would happen constantly. I can't believe that I was sticking up for Halo and saying it was a pretty fun game, and then the next day I get slapped with a banhammer with no reason behind it.

Mods are not Gods, and this is what happens when we leave computers in charge. I wasn't idling; I was actively playing.
I'll leave with a quote that sums up my feelings:
ITS ALL SO DAMN INCONSISTENT.
xoxoxo
