read about this beast after the jump. xD
In our kitchen we had a magnetic calendar thing. The top half is a calendar, the bottom half was a place to keep all of the magnets.. I had been asking everyone if they thought the thing was dry erase, and all the guys said "no no no." So, I'm sitting in the kitchen yesterday & i look over at the calendar next to the fridge. "January 2011." what? We're in March??? I look at the magnets.. everything untouched since.. you guessed it.. January 2011. ;D Flashback to the day before. I cleaned out the fridge and created a "leftovers shelf." to save us from throwing tupperware into the back of the fridge, forgotten forever. Well, forever meaning: "until the fridge get's cleaned out and we go 'oh, I didn't know we had X'" Flash forward to yesterday. Tom comes in and says "I didn't know we had leftover burgers" despite the fact that we have a "leftover shelf." Now the gears are turning in my head. I had been wanting to do a weekly calendar for the meals for the week, but how could I incorporate the leftovers? IS THAT THING DRY ERASE?!
I decided to find out for myself. I explained the plan to mom, she was more than happy to pull the calendar off the wall and let me draw on it. I found an Expo marker, and tested the waters. it erased. This board (that everyone told me wasn't) was IN FACT dry erase. Now to set the plan in motion. I sketched out a plan for weekly meals & on the other half titled it simply "leftovers." Mom approved, and I got to work. sketches, drawings, several permanent markers & several mess ups later, you see my finished product. I changed "leftovers" to "What's In The Fridge?!" because that's the question everyone asks. Now, if there are leftovers left in the fridge in a week, they're garbage. Sorry, leftovers. :[ And since they're all on one shelf, it's easy and organized. Oh, life is so fun when you have things organized. <3
Interesting fact: If you by chance, accidentally write on a dry erase board with permanent marker, simply scribble over the offending mark with an expo marker, and it will erase right off. weird right? Oh, the things you learn working in the cash office at Publix. (yes it happened.)
Side note that pertains to this project: Blue Expo markers are the evil spawn of the devil. they WILL leave a blue shadow all over your pretty work. I stick with red & black, because red is the color scheme in my mom's kitchen.
Alright. That's about it.
XOXOX
