NEW GOAL

everyone that knows me, knows that i have a new goal, or new life mission every 20 minutes. i'm always coming up with something that i *really* want to do.. or a new plan of attack.. or something new creatively that i want to work on.

i like to think that i'm pretty creative. i love to draw and paint and sew and create. i really pride myself on my creativity. i know one of my strong points is to be able to look at something and see what it can be, not just what it is.

one thing that i know i need to work on is my cooking skills.  i am an okay cook.. but i have a really limited range of what i can cook.  i can bake, and i used to bake a lot... cookies, cake, brownies.. i have a massive sweet tooth, and i love to bake.  HOWEVER, since i've moved into the apartment my baking has come out really crappy.  here is my guess as to why:  we have an electric stove.  i started baking more once we moved to GA, and i started baking in a gas stove. i love gas stoves. i do not like electric stoves.  they do not get hot right away, plus ours has a weird smell.  it is easier for me to cook on a gas cooktop.. and my baking tastes better in a gas oven.  luckily, my mom has a gas range in her house so ill be able to bake & cook  normally.

that being said, my new goal is to cook something new every day. kind of like that movie julie & julia. im going to pick a cookbook and cook something new every day. i dont know which cookbook im going to do yet.. and i'll probably skip recipies.. but i'll be sure to update and let everyone know how they taste. [=

thats my goal. i want to be a good cook.  this wont start until after the move, seeing as how all of my cookbooks are packed AND i dont have any money.

i think what i would really like to do, is cook one "cookbook" meal, and the next day a "bargain meal" that is just as good.  anyone that lives near a publix (they're expanding! i hope they come to VA one day.) should DEFINATELY check out the apron's meals. since i worked at the Mirror Lake Publix, i can tell you that Michelle is one of the best Apron's cooks, and she is absolutely the nicest person in the world. she will tell you how to cook the meals perfectly!

Anyway, Publix has great "bargain" recipies. i think they do the "meal deals" on sundays [im not sure if they're on another day too..] but these are usually meals that can feed a family for *cheap* and are usually really quick to make [around 15 minutes.] PLUS they make a ton of food. I was hired at publix 5 years ago as an aprons clerk, and let me tell you.. those recipies make a TON of food and are usually pretty good.

so. my plan is to do a "cookbook" recipie, and a "bargain/quick" meal. i'll post how much it costs to make each one.. and how easy they were to make!

hopefully this will keep me on track for cooking. let me know if you want to join in on this cooking fun, and we can compare recipies and come up with some of our own!!! [=

xoxo
